π Hey friend,
This week is all about the total solar eclipse:
Learn what they are.
My experiences with them.
How they could change your life.
Thereβs a common misconception that total solar eclipses are unsafe and dangerous. But once you understand total solar eclipses (TSEs), youβll enhance your personal and spiritual growth. Plus, you could unlock a new life of adventure.
Thatβs what happened to me.

Understanding the Total Solar Eclipse.
By being present during totality, you experience a spiritual awakening. The darkness activates the pineal gland, linked to the third eye and higher consciousness. This activation facilitates a profound shift in perspective, allowing you to gain clarity, find inner peace, and realign with your true purpose.
I know this from experience.
There is a conspiracy to confuse you.
The lies are based on fear and ignorance.
A total solar eclipse (TSE) occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, revealing the Sun's outer atmosphere (corona). During totality, the sky darkens, and the Sun's corona becomes visible.
Totality is visible only within a 100-mile-wide path. Outside this path, you see only a partial eclipse.
βοΈ The total phase lasts only a few minutes.
Misconception: βIt's never safe to look at an eclipse.β
You can safely look at the sun when it's fully covered during a total eclipse. However, you should not look at the sun when it's only partly covered unless you wear special eclipse glasses.

My Experience as an Umbraphile.
TSEs came onto my radar in 2004.
I read about them in Andrew Weilβs book The Marriage of the Sun and Moon: Dispatches from the Frontiers of Consciousness. In this book, Weil writes about how the TSE represents the unification of consciousness, which he explores throughout his essays on altered states, integrative medicine, and mind-body connections.
They produce transcendent states.
Itβs a natural high better than drugs.
You could experience spontaneous healing.
π€― TSEs captivated my imagination.
The stories of consciousness expansion enchanted me.
The next eclipse near me was in 2017, 13 years later. I was determined to see it. In 2017, Tracy (now my wife) and I drove to Oregon to be in the path of totality. We loved it so much that we decided to see as many as we could in the future.
In 2019, we traveled to South America for the next TSE in Chile. I filmed that epic adventure in a vlog on my YouTube channel.

Misconception: βA 99% eclipse is almost as good as totality.β
You can only see the amazing sight of the sun's corona (totality) when the moon fully covers the sun. This only happens if you're in the exact path of totality, which is only about 50 miles wide. If you're outside this path, you'll only see a partial eclipse, which is nowhere near as awe-inspiring.

Why TSEs Should Matter to You.
π΅βπ« Humans naturally want altered states of consciousness.
We like to get high. There are lots of ways we fulfill this desire. Most of them are healthy, unlike the unhealthy addictions (alcohol, cigarettes, cocaine, sugar, porn, etc.) we normally use as self-medication in modern society.
Here are a few of the ways in Weilβs book
throwing up
eating cacao
eating mangos
drinking coffee
chewing coca leaf
ingesting mushrooms
tasting chiles (spicy food)
eye gazing (like looking into a TSE)
Unexpected, right? To that list, I would add:
a mother birthing a child
the death of someone
cold water immersion
sweating in a sauna
and having sex
π Humans crave connection.
Witnessing a total solar eclipse is one of the most profound experiences of connection you can imagine. Itβs experiential, and you have to see it to believe it. The feeling is difficult to describe, but Iβll take a swing at it...
Gives a broader perspective on life.
Encourages you to overcome obstacles.
It makes you want to live more authentically.
Gives a renewed sense of purpose and zest for life.
A reminder of nature's immense (yet fleeting) forces.
Promotes a deeper appreciation of the present moment.
Instills a sense of awe, humility, and interconnectedness.
But if all that wasnβt enough to convince you, lemme break it down for you nice and simple:
β total solar eclipses are fucking cool.
β theyβre just really fun to be around.
Misconception: βTSEs are dangerous for pregnant women.β
This myth stems from ancient superstitions. Thereβs nothing based in reality that eclipses pose any risk to pregnant women or unborn children.

How To Make TSEs a Part of Your Life.
π£ Itβs my duty to inform you about TSEs.
They happen about once every 18 months. However, a TSE is visible at any given location on Earth once every 375 years. This year's TSE is April 8th, and the next one in the USA will be in 2044. TSEs are rare and precious gifts.
You can plan your family trips around TSEs.
Astronomers and mathematicians have calculated when and where theyβll occur far into the future. I plan to be at all I can and even have them pinned on a map. Zoom in on the image below to see when and where they are for the next 50 years.
Will I see you at the next one?

This Letter is part 1/3 of my TSE rant.
Part 2 will highlight my past travel experiences with TSEs and how they relate to our fast-paced modern world.
π€ Hint: they might be an antidote to chaos.
In Part 3, I'll show you the April 8th eclipse from Texas on my YouTube channel.
Thank you for making time to read this.
Share it with your followers or a friend.
See you next Wednesday,
David.
